The four-decade Ursinus College career of John French, the college’s William F. Heefner Professor of Music, will be celebrated during a special Ursinus College Choir and Meistersingers spring concert.
The concert will serve as a retrospective of French’s career, featuring excerpts from the larger choral works performed by the college choir and meistersingers over the years, including compositions by Maurice Duruflé, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn.
It will also include a new commissioned work by Philadelphia composer Kile Smith with college organist Alan Morrison providing accompaniment on the Heefner Memorial Organ.
All are welcome to celebrate French and wish him well on his retirement. The Ursinus College Department of Music offers a wide range of free musical performances throughout the spring. Parking is available on concert days in the West Lot off the Ninth Avenue entrance to the college.
