The CEDC and Community Music School – Dinner & a Show

January 20, 2014

The CEDC and Community Music School are featuring Jazz 5 Pack  as the Latest “Dinner & a Show” Promotion

On April 6th, the Collegeville Economic Development Corp. (CEDC) is partnering with the Community Music School (CMS) in Trappe to offer a “Dinner & a Show” promotion featuring the accomplished musicians, Jazz 5 Pack.  Their lively 1 hour 45 minute performance in CMS’s interactive music hall will feature the most influential and popular American songs of the 1920s through the 1950s from Broadway theater, musical theater, and Hollywood musical films.  They also turn up the heat with bebop from the 1940s–when jazz was at its absolute peak!  You can hear a clip of their music HERE.

The Jazz 5 Pack punches up the music of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rogers and Hart, Miles Davis, Benny Golson, Duke Ellington and many other prolific composers from this exciting era with their traditional jazz harmonies and improvisation.

And if you are not familiar with jazz, no problem!  This engaging and informal concert offers you and your family a great introduction to the genre.  The performers will explain the background of jazz and their techniques throughout the concert.  Concert patrons can also meet the performers during the intermission and after the event.

The Jazz 5 Pack musicians, all from the greater Philadelphia area, have performed together for the past two years and have also played together in many other groups for the better part of the last decade.  The Pack includes Rob Diener on trumpet, John Loos on trombone, John Clionsky on piano, Mike Gordon on bass and Paul Gallello on drums.

Jazz 5 Pack is part of the Community Music School’s “A Little Night Music” concert series, and normally tickets are $18.00 each. However, those taking advantage of this “Dinner & a Show” promotion can reserve and purchase tickets at the special price of only $12.  Then after the performance, show your ticket reservation to any of the participating restaurants listed below for dinner and you will receive a 10% discount or free appetizer.

The Community Music School is located at 775 Main Street in Trappe, just west of Augustus Lutheran Church.  For the Sunday, April 6 performance, doors will open at 3 p.m. for you to enjoy a complimentary wine and cheese reception while viewing “The Pursuit of Color,” an exhibition of watercolor artworks by Bob Cummings of Lebanon, PA.  “By combining an afternoon of art and music, our school helps to create an affordable concert and arts experience, adding to the cultural enjoyment of the residents of the Perkiomen Valley,” explains CMS Managing Director Jeffrey Cassano.
