Ursinus College has again teamed up with The Collegeville Economic Development Corp. (CEDC) to offer an entertaining and enjoyable “Dinner and a Show” promotion–a fun night out for Collegeville area residents without the hassle of Center City traffic.
Local restaurants are offering dinner specials to individuals attending the Ursinus Theater Department’s performance of “The Picture of Dorian Gray” at the Lenfest Theater in the College’s Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, Oct. 1, Thursday, Oct. 2, Friday, Oct. 3 or Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
Oscar Wilde explores youth, beauty, desire, obsession and much more in his controversial story first published in 1891. This new stage adaptation is written and directed by Ursinus Professor of Theater Domenick Scudera.
Theatergoers can choose from among 15 local restaurants for dinner the evening of the performance and enjoy 10% of their bill or a free appetizer. You will find will the listing of the restaurants and their specials on the CEDC website, www.collegevilledevelopment.org by mid- September. Theatergoers who would like to take advantage of the “Dinner & a Show” specials should order tickets from the same CEDC website.
Tickets are only $5 each, or $2 for students and seniors age 65 and over. Individuals can reserve their tickets online through the site, and they will be issued a receipt which they should show at the restaurant on the day of the performance to get the dinner special. They will also need the receipt to give to The Ursinus Box Office in order to pay for and pick up their tickets. Theatergoers should arrive at the box office at least 15 minutes before the show begins.
The Lenfest Theater is located within the College’s Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Center. Those attending the play should park in the College’s West parking lot; enter from Ninth Ave. The Kaleidoscope Building which houses the Lenfest Theater is to the side of the parking lot.
