New “Dinner & a Show” to Feature the Ursinus Spring Dance Concert April 20 & 21

Before the show, area residents can enjoy pre-theater dinner specials
at local independent restaurants.

Ursinus College and the Collegeville Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) are teaming up to offer a very different “Dinner & a Show” promotion: The Ursinus College Dance Company spring dance concert.  Enjoy an evening of invigorating dance performances showcasing dances of different cultures, and rejoice in the dancers’ creativity, flexibility and rhythm.   This performance celebrates the rich fabric of dance at the college and is suitable for all ages.

Performances are in the Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Center on Friday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m.

The dance concert, produced by Professor of Dance Karen Clemente, will feature a variety of new works by professional guest artists and student choreographers, in addition to hip hop artist Josh Polk and modern dance choreographer Dana Powers-Klooster.

Many interesting works are featured:  The performance is anchored by the return of Jeannine Osyande and the Dunya Performing Arts Company in It’s All About Dat Beat: Dancing Resonance.  The piece combines ancient beatz, transAtlantic rhythms, rhythms of the diaspora and recycled rhythms with a variety of African-based dance movement, including neo-traditional dance and African American step dance.

Fourteen local restaurants will be offering dinner specials to individuals attending the show.

Individuals will be issued a receipt to show at the participating restaurant on the day of the performance to get the dinner special, and also to show at the Ursinus College box office if they are picking up their tickets.  Theater-goers should arrive at the box office at least 15 minutes before the show begins.

The following restaurants are offering dinner specials to customers attending the Ursinus Spring Dance Concert.  It is highly recommended that theatergoers make reservations with them and arrive at the restaurant by 5:30 p.m. to enjoy a leisurely dinner and to allow enough time to get to the Ursinus campus.
