There is a newly branded Fashionistas Salon in Collegeville: Fashionistas & Co is now a full-service salon with a new name, a whole new look, new friendly staff and tons of new services!
The former Fashionista’s Salon—now Fashionistas & Co.—has passed ownership from Mother Lucia Reynolds to daughter Danielle Vuotto Grillo. Mother and daughter have worked together for 25 years, starting in 1999 in a King-of-Prussia salon.
“My Mom told me from a young age you can be anything you want to be when you grow up besides a hairdresser” says Danielle. “She would tell me, ‘You’re too smart for that.’ But as a kid, I was always watching my mother and it naturally became a passion of mine. I would cut all the hair of my Barbies and ‘practice my techniques’ on my sister and my friends as my salon Guinea pigs. I have always been passionate about hair and finding new ways to make people look and feel their best.”
In 2007 Lucia opened Fashionista’s Salon in Phoenixville on Bridge Street. The pair worked there until 2012. That’s when the lack of parking and inebriated bar patrons got to be too much, and Lucia moved the salon to Collegeville. Along the way, Danielle gained much experience in hair coloring, hair cutting & styling, while learning, growing and teaching as artistic educator for a Hair Company called Matrix.
This year, after 45 years in the business, Lucia decided to step down and turn over the business to Danielle. “My Mom is happier not having the pressures of owning the salon, and I am happier being the boss,” explained Danielle. “Early this year, I renovated the salon entirely, rebranded it, hired new staff and added a bunch of amazing services to the menu. We now have a mix of highly experienced technicians and newer very eager staff. We take education seriously and make sure we all keep up with the latest trends, fashions and products.
“At Fashionistas & Co., customer service is our Number 1 priority,” Danielle emphasizes. “We welcome everyone and maintain a very inclusive atmosphere here. At the door, we offer our customers a drink, show them around the salon, and ask them what the goal of their experience is. Our goal when customers come to our salon is to make each individual look and feel amazing in every way.
“For example, some customers may tell us that they would like their hair styled, or want to know if something can be done for wrinkles, or they may hate their nails or lashes and want help getting them to look more aesthetically pleasing. As a full-service salon with talented staff, they can be referred to the best specialist who can meet their needs.”
Patrons can enjoy hair cutting , hair styling and amazing hair coloring from Lucia, with over 45 years of experience; Danielle, with over 20 years’ experience; or from Ella Safavi, who relocated to Collegeville from her native Tirana, Albania, where she owned and operated her own salon.
Anna Ellis, Fashionistas wellness therapist, is highly trained in many holistic modalities. She offers patrons aromatherapy, reflexology, Reiki, cupping and other modalities in customized sessions that help harmonize and balance body, mind, and spirit.
Amy Crowthers, the salon’s esthetician, offers custom and signature facials, LED light therapy, radio frequency, chemical peels, enzyme treatments, brow tinting, lash extensions and full body waxing.
Maddy McBride, who grew up locally in the Blue Bell area, is a passionate nail technician who is dedicated to creating beautiful nails and relaxing pedicures and her one-of-a-kind freehand nail designs that exceed expectations.
Finally, Salon Assistant Gabby Ridge is currently a student at the North Montco Technical Career Center for Cosmetology. Gabby excels in customer service and social interaction.
In addition to women and girls, Fashionistas also provide their services to men and boys.
