On Saturday, December 1st, the CEDC held Collegeville’s annual tree lighting at the Perkiomen Trail parking lot across from the Collegeville Diner. Due to the rain, the tree lighted automatically at dusk, and the event was moved indoors to DaVinci’s Pub. At 5 p.m., Mayor Aidsand Wright-Riggins greeted the community and everyone enjoyed caroling by the Community Music School. Special thanks to the Collegeville Fire Company for transporting Santa Claus to DaVinci’s promptly at 5:30 pm, where he joined Mrs. Claus and Chief Elf Mary Shaffer to meet the children and pose for photos.

Our heartfelt thanks to Mary Shaffer for urging us to bring back the tree decorating event this year, to Karen McCaslin for organizing and overseeing it, and to DaVinci’s Pub for hosting the event and providing a complimentary Happy Hour! Also thanks to our tree decorators, and to Jeff Wentworth, Debbie Riegner, Cindy Whitby, and Edge Signs and Graphics, LLC for supplying a bucket truck to reach the top of our now 24 ft. tree, which grows bigger every year!
