Recognizing the need for mental health help is often the first step in breaking repetitive cycles of negative thoughts, behaviors, relationships, and emotions. When we find ourselves stuck in the same destructive patterns—such as in a toxic relationship, unhelpful thought habits, or coping mechanisms that no longer serve us—professional intervention can provide the necessary tools for change.
Making a Connection

At coeo, healing begins with connection. coeo Therapy was founded on the idea that healing doesn’t fit into neat protocols or formulas. It happens when people are seen, understood, and given a safe space to show up fully, and are met by someone whose goal isn’t to fix you, but to be genuinely curious about you. coeo’s practice is grounded in the belief that “you make sense.”
Everyone, inside and out, makes sense in the context of their story and relationships, and true healing isn’t about handing someone a list of coping skills. It’s about taking a holistic approach, from the nervous system and emotions to the systems we live in, that allows people to take risks, trust themselves, and connect authentically.
“We are two imperfect humans who have never quite fit the mold and never understood why we were supposed to fit it in the first place. So instead of squeezing into a system that felt rigid, disconnected, and not right for us or the people we wanted to serve, we figured, why not try to do things differently?”
Kristen Czech and Colleen Valerio founded coeo three years ago because they wanted to merge their lived experience with their clinical knowledge and approach therapy differently.
“We believe in the power of authentic connection to heal, and blend evidence-based techniques with our own personality and style.”
coeo works with individuals, couples, families, and teens across a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, trauma, neurodivergence, addiction-adjacent struggles, and relationship challenges.
The Team

Their therapists are trained, curious, and genuinely engaged in the work of helping. They take the time to get to know who you are as an individual while keeping the bigger picture of your life in context, zooming in on your unique experience and zooming out to understand the systems and relationships you exist within. In their view, no one is just their diagnosis.
Kristen, who is also a nurse practitioner and whose prior roles include Director of Psychiatric Nursing at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), has extensive experience, particularly with clients and families affected by trauma and those in unique situations requiring creative care. She also oversees the clinical intern training and does speaking engagements and dynamic workshops, with the goal of sharing trauma-focused and human-centered methods of healing.

Colleen oversees the business side of coeo, including marketing, office operations, and technology systems, but her favorite part of the job is being the connector. She’s often the first voice you’ll hear at coeo, and the person who will take the time to understand what you’re looking for, match you with the right therapist or program, and think creatively with you to make sure your care fits your life.
In addition to Kristen and Colleen, the practice includes three other therapists, Sam Hyder, Nadia Glombovsky, and Shelly Zhou Fan and six Master’s level clinical interns.

“Healing isn’t something we do to people; it’s something we cultivate with them. We move individuals from survival mode to wholeness, empowerment, and authentic living. Rather than simply erasing the pain or “fixing” a symptom, we focus on repairing the psychological, emotional, and relational ruptures caused by trauma, stress, and mental health struggles.
If you’ve tried therapy before and were frustrated by the process, it may not have been the right time, method, or fit. coeo’s therapists are creative, unconventional, skilled, and genuinely built for people who are ready to do more than cope. And with evidence-based approaches like EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), coeo therapists can create safe spaces to explore, heal, and grow.
