For as long as he can remember, Collegeville resident Steve Taylor loved to draw. As a kid, he would hand draw copies of his coloring book covers so perfectly that his Mom thought he had traced them. Throughout his childhood he attended Montco art classes and in high school majored in graphic design and visual communication. After school, Steve worked in retail management and his wife Brianna worked in a doctor’s office.
But this year, the Taylors decided it was time to follow their dreams. Steve and Brianna quit their day jobs, and the 31-year-old entrepreneurs have just opened The Clutch Shop on Collegeville’s Main Street near Whitby Jewelers.
Professional Design and More
Steve is now using his creative skills in graphic and apparel design at The Clutch Shop. He provides graphic design services to businesses and individuals who need well-designed brochures, business cards, logos, invitations, promotional and celebratory materials and more. His prices are highly competitive, and delivery is fast.
On the apparel side, Steve helps customers design one-of-a-kind tee shirts, hoodies, reusable bags, tea towels or other apparel. He acquired a Direct to Garment (DTG) printer which uses both the latest technology and environmentally friendly inks to print full color images onto any material. Most apparel printing has been done with silk screens, which don’t provide the quality, range of color, or vividness of this new technology. DTG is also a faster process. Steve can turnaround designs in a week. And since he is local, there is no shipping cost. His costs are competitive with the Internet and other apparel printing purveyors.
The additional significant benefit that customers receive when they print with The Clutch Shop is that Steve offers each customer his professional design services. “I review your design and offer alternatives to maximize your design’s attractiveness and impact,” he says. “Your art, photos and lettering will be professionally designed plus the print quality of DTG is up to 1200 DPI.”
There are no minimum quantity requirements at The Clutch Shop.
Gift Baskets
Although Brianna had a successful career, she felt her job wasn’t utilizing her greatest asset: That of being “A Giver.” “This is my purpose,” Brianna says. “I like when people are happy. People have always told me how much they appreciated my gift baskets and how beautiful they were.
At The Clutch Shop, we carry themed gift baskets to fit any occasion: Birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and more. Customers can stop in to view our current selections or to place a custom order.”
“I prefer healthy products and build the baskets according to themes, and select the type of products that I would love to receive myself. Customers can tell me about the gift recipients and I will design one-of-a kind baskets for each of them.”
The Origin of the Name
“We are big sports fans year round,” Brianna explains. “Clutch is an acronym for “Can’t Lose Using Toughness, Chemistry and Hustle.” Our name signifies that we will come through for you in a critical situation, under pressure, when it really matters. You can trust all your printing and gift needs to us—and we will always come through for you in the clutch.”
The Clutch Shop opened Feb. 12, and they are creating more merchandise daily. Stop by to see their work!
