2017 Collegeville-Trappe Memorial Day Parade To Focus on Trappe 300th Anniversary

May 14, 2013

The Parade will be held on Monday, May 29th

Our communities’ parade, now in its third year, promises to be the most melodic and best yet for both parade participants and onlookers!

This year’s parade theme, “Patriotic Songs” provides creative inspiration for floats and banners and encourages more musicians and bands to join in than last year.  The Parade Committee devotes countless hours to creating a must-see spectacle of bands, cars, floats, marchers and other displays dedicated to showcasing our remembrance and gratitude owed to our veterans and our service men and women.

The parade will begin on Monday, May 29th at 10 a.m. sharp at Augustus Lutheran Church in Trappe, and will continue down Main Street to First Avenue.  It will end at noon at Waterworks Park.  Volunteers will hand out flags and programs to the spectators along the route.  Children and families will enjoy giveaways from the parade participants and also at the parade’s end at Waterworks Park.

If you are watching the parade, bring your lawn chair to any shady spot along Main Street in Trappe from 7th Avenue down to First Avenue.  Plenty of great viewing spots are available!

The parade will include about 60 floats, bands, including our own PV High School band, and representation from the Keystone Grange, the 4-H Club, Boy Scouts, antique cars, horses, civic and youth groups, neighborhood community groups, police and fire engines, and as always, quite a few surprises.  A number of armed forces and military groups will be represented, including the Gold Star Mothers, who have a son or daughter serving in the military, and the Blue Star Mothers, who have lost a son or daughter.  Several motorcycle and other groups will be riding in tribute to our military, including the Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education, Warrior Watch and the Keystone Wounded Warriors.

At the end of the parade, viewers should join the parade behind the EMS vehicle and walk to Waterworks Park for a short Memorial Day Observance.  The Observance will feature buglers, a ceremonial flag raising, a Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, and singing of “The Star Spangled Banner” led by the Norristown Corale, who will also perform a short concert before the service.

At the parade’s end, fun and food stands.
